Douglas Miller
As a member of the Champlain College graduating class of 2010 I received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Electronic Game & Interactive Development. In addition to my specialization in Game Design, I have studied extensively in; traditional drawing, drawing for game design, 3D modeling, 3D animation, introductory programming and fundamentals in C++ in order to better understand all aspects of production and broaden my talents.
An avid gamer since the era of the Nintendo Entertainment System my interests in games range from traditional Japanese role playing games to first person shooters and real time strategy games allotting for a varied outlook on design. My passion for the design process began long before my traditional education with paper prototyping and modification. Drawing and writing have been fundamental skills I have honed for as long as I can remember.
For the past four years I have become adept at working under a tight milestone-based schedule with intense time pressure. I have learned to thrive under the stress and meet team milestones. Group based work is a major part of our program and we often function in teams ranging from four to twenty people. Critique both of individual and team-based work has become a regular part of my process, emphasizing the strength of iterative design.
My goal has always been to tell stories through the medium of games, and by doing so maintain the utmost level of polish and innovation in my designs through storytelling and world crafting. Beyond my professional life I have a wide array of eclectic interests from cooking to martial arts. In addition my interest in the Japanese language has lead me to take two years of college level Japanese courses. I have traveled internationally to Europe and Japan among other places and do not mind relocating for work.
